What message do you want to tell us with the songs on your album?

«The message I wanted to give with my album "The Electric Love Movement" is first and foremost about Love and Relationships.  I personally felt that with so much graphic in your face kind of messages with cursing and vulgarity in so much music of today I wanted to bring things back to when real music and real messages were dominant.  Real jams and real love ballads and real musicianship.»

Have you used collaborations in your album?

«I did use collaborators on my album.  ArcAngelo Gorgoni of SEASKY MUSIC is an awesome multi instrumentalist and producer who is located in Italy produced, did all the instruments and mixing on Don't give uo on love, Hey you and Put it on the line.  He and I co produced and both played on both To be where you at and he is featured on guitar, mixed and mastered on Can't describe.  Another great musician, producer and multi tasker located on Florida is Vince "Puncho" Bonham of SNAP LAB ENTERTAINMENT who produced and mixed Do you love me still and All I wanna do is see you smile which won a Akademia Award for best R&B Song for month of February 2017.  He also co produced with me and featured on piano solos on the first song Let's be together tonight.  The rest of the album After the rain, Countdown to love I produced and mixed by myself along with writing all the lyrics and did all the vocals including backgrounds on all the songs.»

 

I would like to talk about a song of your album and in particular of Can't Describe. Well I want to ask you what it is that you can't describe?

«On Can't describe which has been a hit on Radio Indie International Network on their top charts, 96.9 the Oasis top 10 as well as a few other stations I am talking about seeing a woman who is beyond description that I just have to meet.  Of course I've had that woman as my wife in my life for over 20 years lol!!  Just saying what a lot of guys feel when they see someone real fine! lol.. I really put that together for the dance floors and ArcAngelo put the icing on the cake with his guitar work. » 

 

And now, what happens after the rain?

«With After the rain which also was a hit on Radio Indie International Network and others I am saying to a woman who has been mentally abused by her man that hey, I'm here for you and I won't let you suffer.  Being there as a friend mostly.  I've seen situations where one man's trash is another man's treasure so basicly on this ballad letting women know that even in the darkest hours someone is waiting to love you right. » 

When did you start singing and when did you realize that your dream was coming true?

«I've been singing and performing since around age 9.  First with a few friends doing a few talent shows at the church we went to.  Much later after high school I joined my first real group in Boston, MA.  We were a 5 person group.  4 guys and 1 female.  This was in the late 80s so we were kind of like a mix of Troop and DeBarge. We were called Flayre then later changed to Step II.   Back then you had to be able to dance and sing.  We earned our first recording contract with famous producer Tony Rose who had his own label Soild platinum records.  He did a lot of things with famed producer Maurice Starr of New Edition and New Kids On The Block fame.  Never took off unfortunately.  Later I joined another group called Raw Vibez.  4 man group kind of a mix of Jodeci and Boyz II Men.  Did that for years then later after that group my wife and I and our children moved to Houston,TX and thats when my solo stuff started up.  Here is where things really moved for me.  I was part of the St. Lukes Hospital choir sang lead on FOX 26 tv, featured in Houston Hip Hop artist Emphamous B songs and videos on YouTube singing hooks on 3 of his songs then put out my first album Soul Session Vol 1 on the now defunct Tate Music Group.  Also performed at the famed Red Cat Jazz Festival in Galveston, TX back in 2015 with live backing band in front of thousands of people. My second and current album "The Electric Love Movement" is out through Ambyent Records with Stephen Jerome Ferguson.  So far so good!»

 

What are your future projects and what are you working on now?

«Right now just concentrating on promoting this album but Stephen along with myself and a few other folks have been looking at other projects to put out for the people.  I'm sure I will do another album in the future as well as singles so stay tuned!»

Would you like to perform in Italy?

«Sure would like to come to Italy and give you guys a up front performance to see how I get down on stage! lol.  Plus I have to start getting out and see the world. » 

 

When you do not sing, what do you like to do?

«In my spare time away from work besides music I mostly love spending time with my family, food shopping (yes that is actually enjoyable with my wife lol), watching movies... I'm a pretty simple guy.»

 

If you were a dish, which dish would you be and why?

«If I were a Dish... hmm.. I would say a great steak medium because my personality can be full and heavy with plenty of flavor LOL.. Mashed potatoes and gravy because yes I can be mushy sometimes, side of some kind of green because I feel I can be good for you.. drink... I would say ginger ale or some good beer... Thats the only thing I can say to that LOL!!»

Quale messaggio vuoi trasmetterci con le canzoni del tuo album?

«Il messaggio che volevo lanciare con il mio album “The electric love movement” è innanzitutto sull’amore e le relazioni. Personalmente, ho visto troppi tatuaggi sui volti delle persone e messaggi pieni di parolacce e volgarità in così tanta musica di oggi che volevo riportare indietro le cose a quando la musica vera e i messaggi veri erano dominanti. Jam session vere, vere canzoni d’amore e vero talento musicale.»

Hai usato collaborazioni nel tuo album?

«Mi sono servito di collaboratori per il mio album. ArcAngelo Gorgoni di Seasky Music è un meraviglioso polistrumentista e produttore che si trova in Italia e che ha prodotto e si è occupato degli arrangiamenti musicali di Don’t give up on love, Hey you e Put it on the line. Io e lui abbiamo coprodotto e suonato insieme in To be where you at e lui è alla chitarra,ja mixato e prodotto Can’t describe. Un altro grande musicista, produttore e multi-tasker che si trova in Florida è Vince “Puncho” Bonham di Snap Lab Entertainment che ha prodotto e “mixato” Do you love me still e All I wanna do is see you smile che ha vinto un Akademia Award come miglior prezzo R&B nel mese di febbraio 2017. Ha anche coprodotto con me e comparso al piano nella prima canzone Let’s be together Tonight. Il resto dell’album After the rain, Countdown to love l’ho prodotto e “mixato” da solo, mi sono occupato del testo, tutte le parole e tutte le parti cantate, compresi i sottofondi su tutte le canzoni.»

Mi piacerebbe parlare di una canzone del tuo album e in particolare di Can't Describe. Bene, voglio chiederti cos'è che non puoi descrivere?

«In “Can’t describe”, che è stata una hit nelle classifiche di Radio Indie International Network, 96.9 the Oasis top ten così come altre stazioni radio, parlo di vedere una donna indescrivibile che devo incontrare. Quella donna è mia moglie ed è nella mia vita da più di 20 anni (risata)!!! Parlo solo di ciò che molti ragazzi sentono quando vedono quella giusta per loro (ride). Suono la mia canzone per le piste da ballo e ArcAngelo è la ciliegina sulla torta con il suo lavoro come chitarrista.»

E ora, cosa succede dopo After The Rain?

«In “After the rain”, che è stata anche una hit su Radio Indie International Network e altre emittenti, dico a una donna, che è stata mentalmente maltrattata dal suo uomo,  “hey, sono qui per te e non ti farò soffrire”, offrendole il mio sostegno principalmente come amico. Ho visto situazioni in cui gli scarti di una persona sono il tesoro di un’altra quindi in pratica in questa canzone far sapere alle donne che persino nelle ore più buie qualcuno è in attesa di amarti nel modo giusto.»

Quando hai iniziato a cantare e quando hai realizzato che il tuo sogno si stava avverando?

«Canto e mi esibisco da quando avevo nove anni. All’inizio con alcuni amici preparavo alcuni show presso la parrocchia che frequentavamo. Qualche tempo dopo, dopo il liceo, mi sono unito al primo gruppo vero e proprio a Boston. Eravamo in cinque, quattro ragazzi e una ragazza. Questo è avvenuto alla fine degli anni ’80, quindi eravamo una specie di mix tra Troop e DeBarge. Ci chiamavamo prima Flayre e poi abbiamo cambiato il nome in Step II. A quel tempo dovevi essere in grado di ballare e cantare. Ci siamo guadagnati il nostro primo contratto discografico con il famoso produttore Tony Rose che aveva la sua etichetta Solid Platinum Records. Lui ha fatto molte cose con il rinomato produttore Maurice Starr di New Edition and New Kids On The Block fame. Purtroppo, il progetto non è mai decollato. In seguito, mi sono unito a un altro gruppo chiamato Raw Vibez. Un gruppo di 4 uomini, una specie di mix di Jodeci e Boyz II Men. L’ho fatto per anni e dopo quel gruppo io, mia moglie e i miei figli ci siamo trasferiti a Houston, Texas ed è in quel momento che ho cominciato come cantante solista. È qui che le cose sono davvero cambiate per me. Facevo parte del coro del St. Lukes Hospital e ciò mi ha portato in tv al canale FOX 26, ero presente nello Houston Hip Hop artist EMPHAMOUS B, canzoni e video su YouTube, un riff su tre canzoni, che ho inserito nel primo album Soul session vol1 dell’adesso chiusa Tate Music Group. Mi sono anche esibito al rinomato Red Cat Jazz Festival a Galveston in Texas nel 2015 con la band di accompagnamento live di fronte a migliaia di persone. Il mio secondo e attuale album "The Electric Love Movement" è stato rilasciato con Ambyent records con Stephen Jerome Ferguson. Fin qui tutto bene!»

Quali sono i tuoi progetti futuri e su cosa stai lavorando ora?

«Al momento mi sto solo concentrando sulla promozione di questo album ma io, Stephen e alcune persone abbiamo dato un’occhiata ad altri progetti su cui lavorare. Sono sicuro di lavorare su un altro album nel futuro così come altri singoli, quindi, restate sintonizzati!»

Ti piacerebbe esibirti in Italia?

«Certo mi piacerebbe venire in Italia e offrirvi una performance per farvi vedere come mi scateno sul palco (risata)! Tra l’altro, devo iniziare a uscir fuori e vedere il mondo.»

Quando non canti, cosa ti piace fare?

«Nel tempo libero, lontano dal lavoro, a parte la musica amo passare il tempo con la mia famiglia, cibo, fare shopping (sì è davvero piacevole con mia moglie), guardare film, sono un ragazzo piuttosto semplice.»

Se tu fossi un piatto, quale piatto saresti e perché?

«Se fossi un piatto… mmm… direi una bella bistecca cottura media perché la mia personalità può essere piena e corposa, ricca di sapore (risata) Purè di patate e salsa perché a volte posso essere “morbido/soffice”, come contorno dell’insalata perché fa bene… da bere… direi Ginger Ale o una buona birra… È l’unica cosa che posso dire (risata)»
